I dont want to sound corny , beacuse there are people that never dug Weir s version of Marty Robbins ' song ..

But I just wanted to share my 3 favourite El Paso s . Does anyone want to share their favourite El Paso s, or cowboy slot songs ? ( M&M Uncle , Big River , Mexicali etc ] ?

El Paso

Ithica NY May 8 1977

Riverport Amp July 5 , 1995 ( Saw it live ]

Deer Creek MUsic C June 28 , 1992

I really enjoy almost any 93 - 95 version , as the acoustic guitar ga ve the song an inimitable flavour

Peace

Definitely second 6-18-74 as the best El Paso. This show was recently released partially as one of the Road Trips discs. A true travesty as this means now that, as there are no audience tapes, the full show should no longer be available to us and you wouldn't be able to hear this El Paso.
BUT! There is still a copy available to stream on the archive right now.

Grab it while the grabbing is good before this El Paso (and the Morning Dew encore!) disappear into the vault.

I love that tune also.

My favorite is the one they actually played at a show IN
El Paso, Tx. Pretty sure it was 1973. Too lazy to look it up but the crowd greatly appreciates the convergance.

Check out Jer's Mariachi guitar work on this acoustic treasure. Marty would be very proud...

I agree with your 92-95 thoughts on the tune. I was never a fan but there were some shows during this period where El Paso would be the best song in the first set. I never thought I'd say it but there were some good versions later in the years.

The Dark Star > El Paso segue at Veneta 72 is one of faves.
But then again, all of Bobby's cowboy songs make me happy....
